Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • Where is the cinema?
We operate in the Music & Drama (M&D) room on the ground floor of Devonshire House (DH1) at the University of Exeter's Streatham Campus.

  • When are the screenings?
We typically provide two screenings of a given film per evening, with the earlier at 18:00/18:30 (depending on the runtime) and the latter at 21:00.

  • Is it just for students?
The cinema is open to the public, so anyone is welcome to attend!

  • What's the price of admission?
Just £2 for members' tickets, and £4 for non-members, making us the cinema with the lowest prices in Exeter. Tickets may be purchased online via our Students' Guild Page. Alternatively, tickets may be bought in-person up to 30 minutes before each screening at the door, CASH ONLY.

  • Will you be showing ["insert film here"]?
If there is any particular demand for a film which has come out, we probably already know about it. We will heed any requests but all are subject to a committee vote well in advance of each term which may make screenings of various films unlikely. All upcoming screenings are listed on our website, social media pages, and Students' Guild page.

  • I’m interested in helping out, what do I do?
Our cinema is entirely volunteer-run and we always appreciate an extra hand. Just speak to a committee member at one of our events or get in contact with us on our social media platforms or email at campus-cinema@groups.exeterguild.com.  You can also check out our 'Getting Involved' page.

  • I’m part of a charity or society and we’d be interested in screening a film with you
Getting the rights to screen any film costs around £270 (give-or-take depending on the film). If you’re still interested with this knowledge in mind, feel free to contact us or speak to a committee member at one of our screenings.

  • I’m part of a society and would like to collaborate with you on a film you are already screening. How do I get involved?
Great! Doing this means that you can buy tickets from us in bulk to sell to your members at a discounted price of £3 each. Contact us via email or social media and we'll discuss this with you.

  • What snacks do you sell and how much are they?
We sell bags of popcorn for 60p each or 2 for £1. We also sell different types of chocolate and Haribo sweets for £1 a bag and a selection of smaller 2 for £1 snacks. Regarding any dietary requirements or allergies, feel free to check the bags on the door before the screening starts.

  • Can I bring my own snacks?
Of course!

  • Do you provide subtitles?
Yes, we will provide subtitles upon request for the earlier screening of two on a given evening.
